As part of Lehigh Acres Municipal Services Improvement District (LAMSID)’s many duties, and we are committed to improving the water quality of our stormwater system. Of the many components that make the pollutants that degrade our system, trash is the most obvious. Trash is generated from vehicles, yard waste, and solid waste sources.
Because canals are the low point in the landscape, most trash ends up in our water system. On a year-round basis, trash is skimmed from our system, or staff removes the trash by hand. Up to 50,000 lbs of trash are removed each year.
